Magical Art Monday: The Painted Goddess by Pearl White Crow

Nyx by Pearl White Crow

Good goddess aren’t isn’t always easy to find, but this eclectic artist out of Oklahoma creates a wide mix of different Ladies with options for original pieces as well as more affordable prints or stickers! Take a peek into her world though the artist statement from Etsy:

While the current trend seems to be rejection of labels and types from the git-go, I prefer to take a more Jungian attitude and embrace the archetypes as fundamental starting points as definers for individualism. Furthermore I think ARCHETYPES are IMPERATIVE for visual communications. As an artist I attempt to reconcile the types in the same way a psychotherapist would with a patient suffering from a personality disorder. With my primary focus on NATURE and my secondary focus on WOMEN, I see that we are ALL quite capable of wearing many different ‘hats’. It is not only about accepting who we are, it is about rejoicing in our variety. Can a woman have multiple P.H.d’s, be a sultry sex-pot AND be a mother? Yes. Certainly. And why not? Can a society be smart, creative, productive, peaceful, spiritual AND hedonistic to some degree?

In essence, my work is about expressing the highest potential of the macrocosm of society in the microcosm of a woman. It is about seeking and embracing one-ness with the universe, ourselves, eachother and the Men around us as WHOLE WOMEN, as Queens of Creation without the fetters of shame, guilt and fear. We are all daughters, sisters, mothers, wild women, amazons and crones. We are facets of a shimmering mystery that is only beginning to be realized anew. We are Goddess.

Magical Art Monday: Windswept Creations

Stone Spirit by Windswept CreationsStone can have a lot of personality but Sandie takes it to a whole new level.  These hand carved stones are full of an amazing amount of personality.  Windswept Creations also works with a large amount of seaglass found on the coast of the Outer Banks, but these Stone Spirits certainly stick out in a crowd!

Sandie Markland began her journey as an artist in early 2000 after dedicating over 20 years to government service in the political arena on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.   Her first (and still favorite) artistic endeavor revolved around Stone Spirits, her original and unique faces carved from volcanic rock.

Varying in size, they would make a perfect garden  companion or house wight.  Check out all the different designs on their Facebook and their Website.  If you’re ever down in the Outer Banks, make and extra point to stop in to the shops listed on the website’s About Us page to see them in person!

Magical Art Monday: Creative Beast Studio

Creative Beast Sculpture

Build-up in the picture is done by Hang-jae Lee

Holy shit is that a dinosaur!  Hell yes it is!  But this artist doesn’t stop there, from figures to dragons this guy has absolutely amazing talent.  Do you happen to recall the line McFarlane Toys put out a few years ago of the Dragons?  Part of that was done by this guy here!

After working about eighteen months as a full-time freelance designer for McFarlane toys (on projects such as Spawn, Dragons, and The Simpsons), David moved to New Jersey in 2005 to be closer to the McFarlane Toys headquarters in Bloomingdale, NJ. After three months of working from home, David was asked to help out in the sculpting department and was eventually hired on as a full time sculptor. During his three and half years sculpting at McFarlane Toys, David showed a particular interest in the animal inspired characters and became a major contributor to many of the company’s in-house fantasy lines. Most notable is his extensive work on the McFarlane’s Dragons line

But now Creative Beast has broken off and has started creating their own amazing work!  You can now have a scale Velociraptor poseable kit!  It may take  a little bit of cleaning up, but who doesn’t want their own personal Velociraptor?!

You can check out his work at the following links

Magical Art Monday: Pippenwycks

Storage Box by PippenwycksLooking for a unique storage box for you tarot or other magical items?  We’ve got the place for you!  Pippenwycks makes lovely, but slightly creepy, boxes, purses, and more.   She has this to say about her work:

Welcome to my little corner of the world!! Come on in, let’s chat!! I’m a Married mom of 4 two legged kids and 9 two legged grandkids. Slightly crazy (in a good way…I think) I have 4 furry dog kids and a cat who thinks she’s the queen of everything. Solitary Wiccan for 30+ years. I am also a Master herbalist and a Holistic Health Practitioner. I craft in my spare time…bwahahahaha…spare time!!! That’s funny!!!. When the kids were little I made up bedtime stories about the fictional world of Wildwyck Woods and all the creatures and people there. Then a friend asked me to make her a box based on those stories. So I crafted her a Creature Box. That was the beginning of Pippenwycks Wildwyck Woods. People saw them and everyone wanted one. One box led to another, to another and here I am!!! And yes! I do talk to the Creatures…. Just don’t tell anyone I’m talking to the boxes again!!

Each of her pieces is numbered and one of a kind.  They also are listed with a little story about their discovery and capture!  Whether for your own treasures or to be given as a gift, these little creatures are sure to be a hit!  There are always new ones coming about, so make sure to check out her sites by following the links below.

This feature comes all the way from Russia!  Sculptor Evgeny Hontor of the Demiurgus Dreams Etsy sho9p has produced some absolutely outstanding works of art!

Why fantasy? It is beautiful. It is the creation of the worlds. I like it. Fantasia – a wonderful tool, this man by nature. You can use it gingerly and gradually. You can get carried away and explore new opportunities. It is a philosophy of life – to create. For me it is.
This is just a dream? Yes, but once all the dreams come true. In one form or another.
And a little piece of a dream, you can take with you. Right now. This is a shop where they sell things from another world. Let thought up. Created fantasy. But at the same time loved and true.

From dragons and other mythical creatures, to totems, to drawings and paintings.  Each and every piece is overflowing with personality that you just can’t ignore.  We could hardly believe they’ve only been sculpting since 2006!  Seeing one piece only gives you an inkling of what this artist is capable of.  Make sure to go over to her site!

Magical Art Monday: Feral Strumpet

When you spend a lot of time and energy making your Book of Shadows, Grimoire, or Journal personal and beautiful, why not include a gorgeous bookmark to go along with it?

All handmades are created one at a time in my little Victorian house in a cobblestone street in the shadow of the medieval walls of the city of York, where I’m serenaded by the hum of trains from the rail station and the howl of the Barghest prowling the snickleways of the ancient city. I’m inspired by Hammer Horror films, gothic novels and pagan ritual. The adornments I make are one-of-a-kind talismans, and I also offer lovingly refurbished antique and vintage finds that suggest their own dark histories.

There is a wide variety of Victorianesque items in this shop, and all of them absolutely beautiful! There is also custom work available! So take a look, and have a one of a kind piece straight from England! Just follow the links!
